Contemporary Art & Calligraphy- At the Nexus of Painting and Writing

Seoul Arts Center presents «Contemporary Art & Calligraphy- At the Nexus of Painting and
Writing» Exhibition in collaboration with the Written Art Foundation (Frankfurt, Germany).
In order to open the prospect of the Seoul Calligraphy Museum that celebrates the 25th
anniversary of Seoul Arts Center, Seoul Calligraphy Museum will present a series of exhibitions
showing calligraphy and writing at the foundation of the modern and contemporary creation.
This series begins with «At the Nexus of Painting and Writing» from April to May and it will be
followed by solo show of Xu Bing, Chinese contemporary artist in October, 2013.
80 works by 60 artists from Western and Eastern worlds will be exhibited in «At the Nexus of
Painting and Writing» Exhibition, selected from the masters of 1950-60’s to the Contemporary
leading young artists. There will be several masterpieces from the Abstract Art Movement in
Europe and America as well as a variety of art works from Arabian culture in which the calligraphy
has been positioned in eminent place in life and art for centuries. Chinese, Japanese and Korean
artists will be present in this praise of the writing by the painters as well.
